🗳 What’s on Colorado’s November ballot?

This November’s ballot in Colorado is packed with a range of initiatives, including two that have already qualified: a property tax cap and constitutional protections for abortion. Here's a breakdown of the measures referred by lawmakers over the past two years:

  • New excise tax on gun and ammunition sales: A 6.5% tax to fund behavioral health, school safety, and violence victim support.

  • Allowing the state to keep all taxes from sports betting: Retaining all sports betting tax revenue for water conservation projects.

  • Earlier deadlines to set the ballot: Moving up petition deadlines by one week and requiring earlier publication of ballot measures.

  • Removing the same-sex marriage ban from the state constitution: Eliminating the obsolete same-sex marriage ban from the constitution.

  • No bail for defendants in first-degree murder cases: Making first-degree murder suspects ineligible for bail if prosecutors show a strong case.

  • Setting up a judicial discipline board: Creating an independent board to handle judicial misconduct.

  • Allowing more disabled veterans to access a state property tax exemption: Expanding the property tax exemption to cover more disabled veterans.

These measures reflect a wide array of issues and reforms that Colorado voters will consider in the upcoming election. Register to vote here.
