RAPID REPORTS
💸 Proposed sales tax hike
Denver may see a new tax increase for affordable housing projects on the November ballot. Yesterday, Mayor Mike Johnston proposed a 0.5% sales tax hike aimed at funding housing development goals and initiatives.
💰 $40.5M in funding
Governor Polis and the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade announced that Elevate Quantum was awarded $40.5 million in Phase 2 Tech Hub funding by the Economic Development Administration.
🏟 Big Moves for the ballpark neighborhood
The Denver City Council approved a proposal for a Ballpark General Improvement District (GID) around Coors Field, allowing property owners to vote on it this November. If passed, the GID would create a unified neighborhood voice, boost the local economy, and establish a sense of place through a special tax on businesses and residents.
🛬 Safe landing at DIA
A United Airlines flight landed safely at Denver International Airport last night after losing a wheel during takeoff from Los Angeles. Flight 1001, a Boeing 757-200 with 174 passengers and seven crew, touched down at DIA without incident. United Airlines is investigating the cause, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.
