RAPID REPORTS

🚨 Colorado’s new tool for saving lives

When a tanker explosion shut down I-70, Ben Miller from Colorado's firefighting tech center monitored the chaos using the Colorado Team Awareness Kit (COTAK), an app originally designed for military special forces. COTAK is revolutionizing emergency response by providing real-time location tracking of first responders. Initially created for the battlefield, it's now aiding firefighters, police, and park rangers in crisis management. Colorado is at the forefront of adopting this advanced situational awareness technology.

👩‍👧 Keeping moms on the move

Cars can be a financial strain for the people who need them most. When single moms face car troubles, Hands of the Carpenter steps in with affordable repairs, helping them stay on the road and to continue to support their families.

💰 University of Colorado approves budget

The University of Colorado just approved a whopping $6.28 billion budget, ensuring students and faculty are well taken care of. With major investments in education, healthcare, and research, CU keeps tuition increases minimal while boosting benefits and financial aid.

🏘 From RTD lot to affordable housing

Denver’s turning a parking lot into a condo haven with $5 million to create "permanently affordable" homes at 29th and Welton. Council member Shontel Lewis questioned how these condos remain affordable while building equity. The secret? Income-restricted units for households earning up to 80% of the area median income, with a 99-year land lease keeping costs low, funded by the American Rescue Plan Act and Denver's Affordable Housing Fund.
